MEET US AT EVENTS
SSbD26 Conference
Following the success of the SSbD24 in Monte Verità and SSbD25 in Zurich, Switzerland, this year’s event continues to bring together a growing and engaged SSbD community.
The SSbD26 Conference is organized by the IRISS International SSbD Community and will take place from November 9-11 2026, in Stockholm, Sweden.
This is the third edition of the yearly SSbD conference, where researchers, industry and policymakers meet to discuss topics related to Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD).
The call for abstracts is open
Contributions from all fields of research, industry, and policy are welcome. The deadline is June 30 2026 (23:59 CEST).
Abstract submission for an oral or poster presentation to ssbd-conference@ivl.se.
We look forward to seeing you in Stockholm!
From design to impact: Implementing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework in European R&D projects
On June 2, the online webinar “From design to impact: Implementing Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework in European R&D projects” organised by the SENTIATECH Platform, will provide a practical and application‑oriented overview of how SSbD principles are being implemented in European R&D projects, offering insights into methodologies, technological solutions and lessons learned that support the transition towards safer and more sustainable innovation pathways.
Objectives
▪ Introduce the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) framework and its role in supporting safer
and more sustainable innovation.
▪ Showcase practical approaches, methodologies and tools for integrating SSbD principles
throughout the research and innovation lifecycle.
▪ Share insights and experiences from European R&D projects implementing SSbD concepts
across different industrial contexts.
▪ Foster knowledge exchange and mutual learning among stakeholders involved in research, innovation and sustainability.
▪ Support collaboration and synergies within the European innovation ecosystem around SSbD-driven solutions.
Agenda
3Bs MaterialsTech 2026 - Biobased, Bioinspired & Biomimetic Technologies for Future Materials
The conference brings together researchers, engineers, and innovators to explore Biobased, bioinspired & biomimetic materials. The event highlights how nature’s principles and biomimetic design can guide the development of smart, adaptive, and multifunctional materials for biomedical, technological, and industrial applications.
Jointly organized with Polymers 2026 and Composites 2026, the conference will feature distinguished Keynote and Invited Speakers, oral and poster presentations, and vibrant discussions on the future of biomaterials innovation.
Dr Melpo Karamitrou (NTUA) will represent AlChemiSSts with a presentation on the parts of the methodology followed for the development of the potential plasticizers within the framework of AlChemiSSts WP4. The title of the presentation is “Tailored Bio-Based Plasticizers from Vegetable Oils: Design Toward Sustainable PVC Applications” and will be delivered on 8 April 2025 as part of the session “3Bs Materials Session I. D: Synthesis, Processing and Characterization”.
