NSC Workshop - SSbD scenarios for advanced and incremental innovations
The NSC Workshop on SSbD scenarios for advanced and incremental innovations will take place on 23 June 2025 (12:00–15:00 CEST, online) as a collaborative effort among several EU-funded projects: SUNRISE, AlChemiSSt, DESIDERATA and PLANETS.
The event focuses on refining the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach by developing structured innovation scenarios tailored to different professional environments, sectors, and innovation levels. Participants will be able to discuss key aspects of SSbD based on real-world case studies.
Among the case studies presented, one will be provided by SUNRISE in collaboration with our partner Laurentia.
Topics:
The first workshop in June 2025 will examine key aspects that shape early innovation stage scenarios, using real-world cases contributed by innovators from the participating EU projects. Discussions will focus on defining relevant parameters, such as company type (start-up, SME, or industry), sector of application (B2B vs. B2C), level of innovation (incremental or advanced), R&D budget, and other early-stage knowledge that precedes experimental work.
A follow-up workshop in September/October 2025 will refine these insights to develop archetypical SSbD scenarios and their corresponding tailored approaches
Draft Agenda
(There will be one case study by SUNRISE from our partner Laurentia)

The 1st SENTIATECH Congress
The 1st SENTIATECH Congress: Detection, Measurement and Control of Emerging Risks will be held in the city of Valencia, Spain from 21- 22 October 2025.
Organized by the SENTIATECH Technological Platform, the congress brings together a multidisciplinary Scientific Committee of leading experts. It focuses on advancing robust solutions for early detection and management of emerging chemicals, and contaminants while promoting the development of safe and sustainable design.
It is one of the most important European events in the field of the development of robust solutions for the early detection, measurement and control of emerging chemicals, pathogens and contaminants, as well as the development of new safe and sustainable chemical products.
The management of emerging risks has become an essential pillar to ensure safety in key sectors such as the agri-food industry, the chemical industry, health, the water cycle, occupational risks or environmental health, among others. Our congress aims to foster multidisciplinary collaboration and accelerate the development of innovative solutions to address current and future challenges in this constantly evolving field.
The SENTIATECH Congress offers a privileged space for the exchange of ideas, the creation of synergies and the strengthening of the scientific and technological community. Renowned experts in sensing technologies, advanced data analysis, nanomaterials and advanced materials manufacturing, food safety and prevention regulations will gather to present the latest advances, discuss challenges still to be overcome and define new implementation strategies.
The programme will feature plenary lectures by leading specialists, round table discussions, market insights and legislative developments in parallel sessions addressing different technological perspectives and approaches. In addition, there will be a poster exhibition to facilitate dialogue between researchers, as well as meeting spaces with sponsors, who will present their key capabilities and contributions to the industry.
We invite you to explore the sponsorship opportunities available and to be part of this event that aims to shape the future of emerging risk detection and control. Your participation is essential to foster knowledge transfer and promote innovations that contribute to a safer and more resilient world.
